Middle East and Africa

The Middle East and Africa present hugely different markets and development toward Smart Grid implementations. Countries such as Oman, Jordan and the U.A.E., specifically Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are moving forward with smart meter rollouts. The number of events, conferences and meetings focused on smart grid and smart energy has sky-rocketed in the Middle East. The growing amount of attention being paid to this area reflects an increased sense of urgency to meet the needs of a growing population, and rising energy demands, which are expected to grow steadily and consistently. The need for solutions has amplified the necessity for GCC-wide smart grid deployment. Africa presents a different picture, with many countries still focused on electricity supply shortage. This triggers us to ask if perhaps Smart Grid technology is what could help enable Africa to grow.
